I left my family to face the coming storm
I left my family to die
I left my people to be crushed
At the mercy of the “barbaric fury”*
And when I spoke
Into the western ear
I spoke of a crime without a name
While my people rose as smoke And fell as ash
Withered and starved
Beaten and destroyed
The forces of hell amassing
To push us
From this earth
I could see “A line of blood”**
Winding through history
A repetition of brutality
Like a bloody tide flooding in
If it could be named
We may no longer fall
As its prey
We shall call it
Genocide
