In this tired inland town.
So I guess I enjoy dreaming

Steal a car and drive west
Until the highway meets the sea.
Then we can swim out until the skyline
Disappears into the haze.
Drown ourselves in California
And toast to these halcyon days.

Maybe there's no coincidences
Just fleeting seconds of beauty.
And everything is meant to happen
And everyone is meant to be.
Or more likely it's completely random And we're all fucked beyond belief.

We can leave this scrap city behind
Along with part of our insides.

Then I swear I'll be your Clyde.
We can burn all our bridges
Until there's nothing left,
Except the way things used to be
And the way that they will never be again.
We can crash and burn romantically
Self-destruct and wax nostalgically
Overthrow the bourgeoisie
Die young, live forever, and stay pretty.
We can shoot our parents and run for fun.
Walk into the smoke-charred setting sun,
Drown ourselves in the Pacific Ocean,
Just to get the fuck out of New England
And die free.
