In a coffee shop landlocked poets of the
world alone in a corner a handsome young
girl watches closely the years in our eyes as
winter sets in submerged in disguise.

Don't put us in categories
we don't belong in them
all that I know is all that I see.
I see highways, buildings all in a line
drawn like a poet to a bottle of wine.
I see you you're alive I've known things that
have died in which only a memory keeps
them alive.

As we shout into laughter, evening is near all
that's unknown is all that we fear.

He lives by his words a poet I can tell
cigarettes and whiskey remind him as well
alone in a corner a handsome young girl
looks in his eyes and sees the whole world.
