you didn't even wait to hear me say goodbye
your telephone cut out
left my voice cutting out
maybe i'm transparent and you can see my words
streaming from my insides
or they just don't matter
i've come to recognize this dialtone
screaming like a warning as the sky falls down
and like an unread novel i have so much to tell
but you have shut this book
you have shut me out
now the hum of this phone is acting like your voice
filling awkward silence
with its repetition
