In a field off the highway upon the ground
Broken forgotten a naked clown
Left from the show the night before
Lost by the ones he once adored

Into the streets of endless crowds
The show must go on, for those who're around
He dances and plays, but nobody cheers A clown on the streets, is not wanted here

Cold and stone, this cement circus
In between the buildings
He's small and frail and far from fitting . . .

Lines thick with people won't look at him
Then some that take pity throw quarters at him
He's scared and alone, he thinks of his home
