The swallows clumsily gathered
And under distant bridges swifted along
The heavy bellied clouds
Scudded overhead in the October glow

Will you follow me there again tomorrow?
To a secret place to meet
Running back once again to The Wishing Seat

And under the rhododendron
Clinging to a root
We steadied ourselves
And leaning out on the ledge
We looked out towards land’s end and beyond

Like so many before us and to follow
A secret place to meet

And opening my opinel
And pledging all the hopeA blade can conjure
With both our names entwined
I carved them into The Wishing Seat
