Testo Neighbors

I got on the train today, I looked around
And saw so many holdin' pain, sit in the crowd
But still we all just look away
The city keeps its pace relentlessly

We pass each other on the street
So complicated, we're all coping with the mystery
Carry our trauma, try to quiet down our histories
And yet we're all the same thing underneath

Does it take a hurricane to unite a culture?
A fire or some other natural disaster?
Is there time to lend a hand or a favor
Instead of treating love like it hurts

'Cause aren't we neighbors
Aren't we neighbors
Aren't we neighbors
Of the earth

You're caught behind an ambulance
You're mad, you're stuck in traffic, then you lose your patience
But are you thinking of the medics and patients
Or thinking of yourself entirely?

We buy some shoes with lower fees
Somebody somewhere made those shoes inside a factory
To know they're healthy is our responsibility
But still we keep consuming thoughtlessly

Does it take a thousand lives to unite a culture?
Spilling oil or other manmade disasters?
Is there time to take notice of our laborers
And realize they're worth more than their work?

'Cause aren't we neighbors
Aren't we neighbors
Aren't we neighbors
Of the earth?

It don't matter what politics you care for
We are neighbors, we are neighbors
It don't matter what bag of tricks they paid for
We are neighbors, we are neighbors

It don't matter the color of our skin
We are neighbors, we are neighbors
It don't matter what country I'm in
We are neighbors

Aren't we neighbors
Aren't we neighbors
Aren't we neighbors
Of the earth

Aren't we neighbors
Aren't we neighbors
Aren't we neighbors
Of the earth
