Testo The Theatre Players

The members of the Theatre Players, an experimental troupe, Formed frm the intellectual set, an inward looking group, They lived on buns and Benefit in a flat with little heat, Where the landlady would knit them things like socks with two left feet. All they plays would culminate with the burning of the flag, But worse, they played Romeo & Juliet in drag, They truncated all of Shakespeares plays, put music to another, Had Hamlet talking to himself and answering as his mother. 'The History Of The World' would run, of that they were all certain, It had little in the way of sets, just a hole cut in a curtain, Behind sat the cast who spoke in solemn, measured tones, While the audience sat further still, behind the curtains of their homes.
