Testo Daddy Was A Real Good Dancer

Testo Daddy Was A Real Good Dancer

Growing up I never knew why daddy was so depressed
He always paid his interest but he never got out of debt
If I saw him now I guess I'd feel real old
I'd hand him my baby girl and I'd play some rock and roll

Cos Daddy, daddy was a real good dancer
That's what everybody'd say
Daddy, daddy was a real good dancer
Until he had me and then he threw his dancin' shoes away

I got a photograph of daddy but that don't mean he was here
Lost behind a mustache and a tank top and a beer
I guess I'd get that way too when nothing no one says is true
We're dancin' to a distant beat
I'd call 'em daddy's happy feet

Cos Daddy, daddy was a real good dancer
That's what everybody'd say
Daddy, daddy was a real good dancer
Until he had me and then he threw his dancin' shoes away

When they finally lay my cold and creaky bones to rest
I hope I'm not a mystery to those who knew me best
But if all my eulogies are all corny fantasies
Just put on my favorite groove
Cos that's what we would always do for

Daddy, daddy was a real good dancer
That's what everybody'd say
Daddy, daddy was a real good dancer
Until he had me and then he threw his dancin' shoes away
