We were married in the dead of winter
and we put the service on ourselves
there was drinking there was dancing there was old time

with all our friends and family there to see and the best thing about it all

its been one year now with this ring on my finger

the first years anniversary is paper
and so we thought we would plant a tree
we wont ask for permission we'll just go ahead and get one
and plant it in a public park for everyone to see
so we got a tree we got a shovel
and headed out in the moonlight
and it was winter soltices so although it was just dinner
time
it felt like it was gone midnight
and we looked so dodgy like burying a body
sneaking round in the marshes that night
but we planted that tree
quite successfully
and i hope its still standing toward the night
cause if that tree can last tonight
it can last a fortnight
if it can last this year its gunna' live a good life
with some care and attention
that tress gunna' grow so strong
