Testo Prayer Shadows

Faintly the echoes of the prayers I have prayed
Lap upon the shores of my memory
And as I walk there on the sand I pretend I walk with Him
But He's standing by himself in the shadows

That the God to whom you're praying
Is hearing every word you're saying
Though the sounds that you're replaying
Are just the prayers of yesterday

Hiding from the words that He wishes I would pray
Fearing the pain that they will cause me
Trusting in my pretension that everything's o.k.
To keep the moment of confession and submission held at bay
